Did you find some new resolutions to add to your already existing ones in order to improve your health this year?

Avoid late Dinners

Any one wishing to maintain a life time of good health should strive to avoid late dinners. The aggravated weight gain, heart burn and even sleep deprivation could be effects of eating late dinners. Add this to the list of your 2011 resolutions if you are already caught in the habit or being led to it by your busy schedules.

Stop Smoking

A popular TV advert says “smokers are liable to dying young” a huge bill board in the area where I live says the same. With this kind of warning, why would any one smoke? (I thought)
I found it quite impressive that some respondents that found themselves in the habit of smoking are resolving to quit this year.

If you are reading this and you are in the category of those that resolved to stop smoking this year, you absolutely have my prayers!

Exercise More
The remote control, elevators, the automobile and to some extent the computer are all part of the environment that hindered many from being active. No doubt many wondered through last year with little or no exercise.

Exercise is not only good for your physical health; it also improves your concentration and thinking, thereby making you more productive. Whether it’s walking, jogging or getting to the gym, to exercise more is a great New Year resolution.

#3
Take Enough Rest

I always knew that taking enough rest is good for our well-being; to know that it came top on my respondents list is some how surprising to me.

One very important aspect of mental health and well-being is simply allowing the mind time to do nothing. It is in the process of not being busy that one is free to contemplate, meditate, recharge and generally appreciate the world around them. (A world which they are busy to notice).

When the mind feels stressed and clogged with thought, the effects on the body can be adverse. Although I know that this is a resolution that some workaholics may find very hard to keep, taking time to get enough rest can have amazing health benefits.

Rest is a replenisher. Add it to your list of resolutions and give your body the pleasure of healing itself and reabsorbing the natural forces that it has lost through the use and abuse of the body and mind.

EAT RIGHT
When I noticed that Eat Right was popular, I wondered what in the world my respondents have been eating. A number of respondents resolved to stop eating junks; I guess their big battle also is to eat right.
While you pray and hope that this motivation that was ushered in by the New Year does not die by the middle of the year, please note that eating a proper balanced meal is a sure step to lose weight.

TOP 10 NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS

A Healthy New Year!
This is my first series for the year. At first I thought it was ridiculous to hit the streets of Abuja just to find out people’s health resolutions for 2011. Very disheartening, majority of the people I encountered didn’t have any health resolutions for the year but a good number of persons were able to think of something on the spot.
Many people make New Year resolutions in order to better their lives. Do they keep those resolutions? That will be a story that can only be concluded in the next 12 months.

 Now the top 10 resolutions
#1
LOSE WEIGHT
I found this to be an extremely popular New Year resolution. After consuming a feast during the Christmas holidays, its time to get into shape. Some people wish to lose a few pounds, while for some; it’s another fresh year to battle excess weight which they were not able to defeat last year.
